Newsletter 3 – Sept 15th 2023
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
This week has flown by. I can’t believe it is Friday already. The children are all settling back into school and it is just nice for everyone to be back in a bit of a routine.
Junior Infants – Our Junior Infants have just completed their first full week of full days at “Big School”. They are settling in really well, making new friends and adapting to the routine of school really quickly. They had their picture taken for the Bray People Newspaper yesterday so be sure to keep a look out for them in the next edition.
Happy birthday – Special birthday greetings go out to Chloe Cunningham (9yrs), Ídil Yilmaz (11yrs), Ashley Brown (6yrs), Donnacha Cribbin (10yrs and Ned Flynn (7yrs),, who are all celebrating birthdays this week. Breithlá sona daoibh go léir
School Swimming Lessons – Our two fourth classes had their first of ten-swimming lessons at Shoreline yesterday. They really enjoyed their time at the pool, and we look forward to seeing the steady progress they are sure to make over the coming weeks. A big thank you to Ms. Heneghan and Ms. Mangan and to the parents who accompanied them to their first lesson. It wouldn’t have been possible without you.
Music Generation – We are looking forward to welcoming Joan Dempsey from Music Generation back to St. Brigid’s next week. She will be working with First, Second, Third and Fourth this year.
Sponsored Walk – Our sponsored walk will take place on Friday 29th September. This is one of our main fundraisers for the year and we really appreciate any support you can give us to make this a successful event. Sponsorship cards and details of the route have been sent to all families. An Aladdin payment link has also been sent out. Now all we need is for the sun to shine on the day. Fingers crossed.
After School Activities – The children were delighted to be back at their After School Activities this week after the summer break. New for this year is Dance for 2nd and 3rd which is proving to be hugely popular. We are looking into organising an Afterschool Science Club for Junior and Senior Classes. More information on this next week.
It Takes a Village Holiday at the Cove Saturday 9th September – This was a huge success with record numbers of people turning out on the day. We were so lucky with the weather.
Smart Phone Voluntary Code 110 families at our school have signed up for this code which represents 40% of our school community. This is very encouraging to see.
Frásaí na Seachtaine This week’s phrase is Conas atá tú? Tá mé go maith go raibh maith agat
Parents Association AGM – This will take place in the school hall on Monday 25th September at 8.10pm. The Parents’ Association will be serving tea and coffee from 7.50pm. There will be an opportunity for you to visit your child’s classroom from 7.30om to 7.50pm. We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the night.
Have a lovely weekend.
Le meas,
Máire Costello
