Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Hope you had a lovely summer.
We are looking forward to welcoming all the boys and girls back to school tomorrow and would like to extend a special Céad Míle Fáilte to our new Junior Infants and any new pupils joining St. Brigid’s.
School Opening Hours
Junior Infants
30th August: 9.30am to 12.00pm
31st August to 8th September: 9.00am – 12.00pm
11th September onwards: 9.00am -1.40pm
Senior Infants to 6th Class – Normal School Day
The gates will open at 8.50am in the morning.
Senior Infants will go home at 1.40pm.
First to Sixth Class will go home at 2.40pm.
Uniform
Children will wear their full school uniform on the first day of school.
The school tracksuit (or school shorts for the month of September) can only be worn on PE days or on days children are participating in school sporting activities.
Please see below that days your child should wear their PE uniform.

Morning Drop Off
At 8.50 am the gates will open and the children will line up in the basketball yard at their designated cone. They will be supervised until 9.00am at which point their class teacher will collect them and bring them to class. Any child arriving after 9.00am should use the single silver gate beside the pedestrian crossing to enter the school grounds.
Afternoon Collection
Junior Infants to 2nd Class
At home time Junior and Senior Infants can be collected from the back yard. Entrance to the school at collection time is via Gate 1. Junior Infants will exit the reception door, Senior Infant will exit via the single blue fire door.
At home time 1st & 2nd Class can be collected from the basketball yard at designated points. The class teacher will bring their classes to the designated collection points.
We would ask that the parents do not encroach beyond the boundary of the basketball court.
3rd – 6th Class
Children from 3rd – 6th Class will exit the school and can meet their parents at the school gate (listed below) or at a point designated by a parent.
Gates
There are three school gate entrances.
Gate 1 = Main Gate Trafalgar Road beside pedestrian crossing
Gate 2 = Wooden Gate beside Mooney’s / Fat Fox
Gate 3 = Laneway Gate onto Kimberley Road
School gates open at 8.50am in the morning and five minutes before home time each day. Children enter and exit school grounds via their designated gate.

All children who are cycling may enter/exit the school via Gate 3.
We would ask all parents to familiarise themselves with the above drop-off and collection routines for the safe delivery and collection of pupils from school.
School Lunches
The should provide their children with enough lunch for two breaks: a 10-minute fruit/ veg break and 30-minute lunch break. Our school has a healthy eating nut free policy.
As we are a Green School, we would ask that your child’s lunchbox is a reusable container. Children will be asked to bring home all lunch packaging.
We are looking forward to meeting you all again bright and early tomorrow. As you know the first day can always be a little bit frantic so, please bear with us as we all get back into the routine of school.
