Newsletter 4 – Sept 27th 2024
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
I hope you all had a good week. It has been an absolute pleasure getting settled into the school and getting to know the wonderful staff, students and parents here in St. Brigid’s. Well done to our junior infant students who have settled in so well to big school. Please find below are news this week.
Parents Association AGM and Open Night – It was lovely to see so many of you at the school on Monday night. I hope you enjoyed your visit to your child’ classroom and got an opportunity to see where your child spends much of their day. A big thank you to the PA for organising the teas at the AGM and to Sheena for updating us on the great work of the PA over the course of the last year.
Happy Birthday – 10 children are celebrating birthdays at the school this week. Alison Pike (9yrs) Brodie Higgins (9yrs), Lucas Starke (6yrs), Margaret Guerreiro Vicente (9yrs), Adam O’ Brien (6yrs), Arthur Pereira (10yrs), Michael Fioraso (8yrs), Sarah Clarken (11yrs) Henry Lewis (8yrs), Freddie Ward (11yrs). We hope you enjoy your special day.
Assemblies – On Wednesday 25th September we held our first assemblies of the school year. Our junior assembly was led by Ms O’Donnell’s 3rd class. They shared their learning, shared their beautiful artwork and sang the song of St. Brigid.
Mr Dodd’s class led the senior assembly leading prayers, songs and sharing their learning. The 5th and 6th class children also sang a song they have been rehearsing for National Children’s choir and it sounds AMAZING already!!
Sponsored Walk – Our sponsored walk will take place on Friday 4th October. This is one of our main fundraisers for the year and we really appreciate any support you can give us to make this a successful event. Sponsorship cards and details of the route have been sent to all families. An Aladdin payment link has also been sent out. Now all we need is for the sun to shine on the day. Fingers crossed.
5th & 6th Class GAA – Well done to the 5th and 6th boys who played in a Gaelic Blitz on Thursday 26th September. They had lots of fun playing against different schools from Greystones and Bray. Thank you to Ms Murray and the parent volunteers for going along.
SNA Appreciation Day – On Thursday 26th September we celebrated SNA Appreciation Day. We gave our thanks to our wonderful SNAs Helena, Liza, Emma, Sharleen Sharon, Helen and Gwen with treats in the staffroom and cards created by the children.
St Brigid’s Social Media– This week we launched our social media account @stbrigidsgreystones. We hope it will help keep our community more connected, informed, and engaged in the exciting events and achievements happening at our school.
Registration for First Holy Communion and Confirmation – Registration for the preparation and the celebration of First Holy Communion and Confirmation is open and will close on the 25th of September.
