Newsletter 2 – Sept 13th 2024

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

It has been fantastic to see so many smiling faces as the children arrive at school every morning.  The children are all settling back into school and it is just nice for everyone to be back in a bit of a routine.

Junior Infants – Our Junior Infants have just completed their first full week of full days at “Big School”. They are settling in well, making new friends and adapting to the routine of school really quickly.

Happy birthday Special birthday greetings go out to  Grace Moran (age 8) Brooke Felton (age 11), Chloé Cunningham (age 10) and ÍdÍl (age 12)  who are all celebrating birthdays this week.  Breithlá sona daoibh go léir.

School Swimming Lessons – Our two fourth classes had their first of ten-swimming lessons at Shoreline yesterday. We look forward to seeing the steady progress they are sure to make over the coming weeks. A   big thank you to Ms. Heneghan and Ms. Mangan and to the parents who accompanied them to their first lesson. It wouldn’t have been possible without you.

 St Brigid’s after-school athletics: Update

Parents’ Association volunteers are working with Shoreline Sports Park, Charlesland on athletics places for the autumn term. Charlesland is in the process of recruiting more staff and this will determine how many athletics places can be offered this term. We will be in touch with the parent community by email as soon as we have clarity on this.

Athletics is organised by St Brigid’s Parents’ Association to give children the opportunity to learn athletics skills alongside their classmates at a low-cost group rate.

It takes place on Thursdays after school and has been open to Junior and Senior Infants (2pm – 3pm), First and Second class (3- 4pm) and Third to Sixth class (4-5pm).

Fire fighter cycle Aoibheann’s Pink Tie and Friends of Firefighters took part in a 3 day cycle across Ireland with 50 Irish and 50 American cyclists. Local schools were invited to cheer them on as they arrived in Greystones. Well done to the boys and girls in 6th class who were excellent ambassadors for St. Brigid’s.

Have a lovely weekend.

Le meas,
