Newsletter 12 – 29th November, 2024

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. The crib and decorations are up, and place is looking truly magical. The school is a hive of activity with the boys and girls rehearsing for their Christmas plays, concerts, and our Carol Service. Walk into any classroom just now and you will see children working on Christmas art, retelling the Christmas story in their own words and happy to be humming along to the Christmas songs and carols. It is such a privilege to be working in a school at this time of year.

Parent Surveys for Whole School Evaluation – Our Whole School Evaluation will take place next Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th December

gov.ie – Information for parents/guardians -Inspectorate

Parents are asked to fill out the parent survey emailed on Monday. The survey can be completed on any mobile, laptop or tablet device. This survey will close at 5pm on 03/12/2024. Parent surveys are available in multiple languages.

Music Generation Concerts – We look forward to our music generation concerts which will take place for 3rd and 4th class next Tuesday and Wednesday with our music teacher Joan.

Please can children wear their full school uniform with a Christmas hat/hairband if they wish.

It is a normal school day for children.

Parents arriving, please use the back door to the hall. We kindly ask parents to refrain from bringing teas and coffees to the concerts. These beverages can create additional waste and pose health and safety concerns. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

St. Brigid’s communion will take place on Sunday 4th May 2025

St. Brigid’s confirmation will take place on Sunday 10th May 2025.

We have been working closely with the Fr. Des, Fr. Bernardo, Lisa and the parish team to organise the communions and confirmation. The venue and times will be announced at a later date (before Christmas).

A huge thank you to parents Libby O Reilly and Emer Elliott who did trojan work behind the scenes on this project.

Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine # 12 – This week’s phrase is: “Mí ádh” (Bad luck/Hard luck)

Advent 2024 – This Sunday the 1st of December marks the beginning of the season of Advent. The word “Advent” comes from the Latin word “Adventus” which means “coming”. A purple candle symbolising HOPE will be lit at all churches over the weekend as we prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas. At this time, we remember especially families who are waiting for the arrival of a new baby. May this be a time of preparation and joy for them.
