Newsletter 1 – Sept 6th 2024
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
It is a pleasure to be the new principal of St. Brigid’s N.S. Thank you for the very warm welcome from the whole school community. It has been fantastic to see so many smiling faces as the children arrive at school every morning. The children are all settling back into school and it is just nice for everyone to be back in a bit of a routine.
Céad míle Fáilte –We extend a very special welcome to who joined St. Brigid’s NS from other schools this year. Moving schools can be very daunting and I know what a relief it is for parents to hear just how well they are settling in.
New Junior Infants- What can I say about our 34 new Junior Infants!! They are amazing. They look so smart in their shiny new uniforms and seem well ready for “Big School”. They are settling in well to the daily routine, beginning to make new friends and are so enthusiastic about everything. They will finish school at the regular time of 1.40pm from Monday 9th September. They had their picture taken for the Bray People Newspaper this week so be sure to keep a look out for them in the next edition.
Welcome Teas- A big thank you to the Parents Association who hosted a special welcome morning for our new parents on Thursday 29th August. It was a great opportunity for parents to meet up with other parents from their children’s classes.
Happy birthday – Special birthday greetings go out to Úna Phelan (9years), Yehor Tselovalnikov, (8 years), Tanmit Roy (9 years), Lorcan Looney (8 years), Liam Doyle (12 years) and Rowan Donnelly (10 years) who are all celebrating birthdays this week. Breithlá sona daoibh go léir
School Uniform- The children should wear their school uniform to school every day except on the days that they have PE or when they are participating in an After School Sporting Activity organised by the school for which they should wear their school tracksuit.
Cycle Safety- 5th class started their Cycle Safety workshop this week. This programme provides children with an understanding of cycle safety theory, bicycle care and practical bicycle safety, and is planned to work into the school timetable.
PE- Our PE teacher Cormac started back yesterday Thursday 5th September. The children really look forward to his classes and I know they gave him a big welcome back. All classes will have two sessions of PE a week. One with the class teacher and one with Cormac. PE will be outdoors as much as possible so we would ask that your child has a rain jacket with them on their PE days.
School Swimming Lessons – Our two fourth classes will start the first of ten-swimming lessons at Shoreline next Thursday 12th September.
Lyons Den After School Service– We were delighted to welcome the Lyon’s Den afterschool club to St. Brigid’s. It has proved very popular with families in the school. They offer a sibling club exclusively for junior and senior infants from 1.40-2.40pm so they can finish at the same time as their siblings. An afterschool option for all pupils also run until 6.30pm
Say Yes to Languages 5th and 6th class will be starting French lessons with teacher Sinead next week.
Frásaí na Seachtaine This week’s phrase is Conas atá tú? Tá mé go maith go raibh maith agat
Summer School Improvements- 15 solar panels funded by the Department of Education were installed over the summer months. A further 15 solar panels funded the the Parent’s Association were installed. A huge thank you to the PA for this support.
After School Activities- These will start back the week beginning Monday the 16th September.
Have a lovely weekend.
