Happy Friday. I hope you all had a nice week – great to have the long weekend to look forward to.

Céad Míle Fáilte – We extend a very warm welcome to brothers Yassine and Youness Aouzal who joined our school this week from Quatar. The boys and girls in Rooms 1 and 5 are delighted with their new classmates and are eager to learn all about where the boys have come from. While it takes a little time to settle in, we know the boys will be very happy at our school.

Raffle Tickets Our annual school raffle went live this week. An email has been sent to all families in the school with a link and QR Code to purchase tickets. Feel free to share this link/QR Code with friends and relatives. The more the merrier.

Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine  # 28 – This week’s phrase is: “Tabhair aire – Take care.

Sacraments 2024

  • Communion- We wish our 2nd class boys and girls the very best for their upcoming First Holy Communion on Sunday 12th May in St. Anthony’s Church Kilcoole.  Enjoy every minute of this very special day.
  • Confirmation – Our 6th classes Class will celebrate their Confirmation on Saturday 18th May in St. Anthony’s Church Kilcoole

Communion Photo Day – Ian Young (Our School Photographer) will visit the school over two days to take individual, sibling and class photos of all our boys and girls in 2nd class. Room 6 will have their photos taken on Monday 13th May and Room 8 will have theirs taken on Tuesday 14th May.  Parents/Guardians of these classes will be notified with all further details.

Healthy Eating Policy.  Some boys and girls have been bringing sweets and crisps to school recently.  In keeping with our Healthy Eating Policy, sweets and treats are only permitted on special occasions e.g.  End of term parties.

Birthday Greetings – Celebrating birthdays this week and over the coming Bank Holiday Weekend are Layla Newmann (8yrs), are Beth O’ Brien (8yrs), Ethan Ward (7yrs), Jamie O; Connell (13yrs), Robyn Summerbell (13yrs), Lucia Brock (11yrs), Lucy Cole (8yrs), Ioana Shyju (9yrs) Andi Matei (7yrs) and Agata Stasolla (7yrs). Happy birthday to you all. Have a great day.

1st May – Well done to the boys and girls from 6th class who sang “May is the month of Mary “in honour of Our Lady on the intercom on Wednesday. They were accompanied on guitar by Mr. Dodd.

Primary Language SamplerWe have made an application to the DES to be included in the Primary Language Sampler Program again next year. If successful, the boys and girls in 5th and 6th will be studying French in either Term 1 or Term 2 next year. Hopefully by saying “Yes” to languages the pupils will grow in confidence in engaging with new languages in the future’

Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 93.9%. Absence 6future’.d school attendance is important to allow children to be the best they can be. Let’s make every school day count.

Music Generation Concerts – The children from 1st to 4th will be putting on their end of year Music Generation Concerts in May. Please see below for further details.

Finishing Date for Athletics for 2023/24 Thursday, May 23rd is the last day of St Brigid’s After-School Athletics for this school year. Many thanks to all the parents and guardians, and well done to all the children who participated, rain or shine. The Parents’ Association will be in touch to confirm places, dates and costs for 2024/25 in September. We are looking forward to returning to athletics in the autumn. From Joanne PA

6th Class Graduation Mass and Celebration – This will take place on Wednesday 26th June. Fr. Des, our new Parish Priest, will celebrate mass in Holy Rosary Church at 7pm . This will be followed by some light refreshments in Kilian Hall afterwards.  More details to follow.

Junior Infant 2024/25 Welcome Day: We are looking forward to welcoming our newest pupils into the school on Friday 7th June at 2pm.

Second Hand Uniform Sale – Our Second-Hand Uniform Sale will take place on Friday 7th June in the school hall from 9.00am. More information on this nearer the date.

Planned School Closures for Term 3

  • May – Monday 6th (May Bank Holiday) and Tuesday 7th May – 2 days
  • June – Monday June 3rd (June Bank Holiday) and Tuesday June 4th – 2 days
  • Summer Holidays – School closes on Friday 28th June for Summer.
