Newsletter 33 – 31st  May 2024

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

What a beautiful day for the last day of May and a great day for our Senior Infants and First Classes as they head off on their school tours. I know the teachers are very excited for the day ahead. I can’t imagine how excited the boys and girls are.

It has been a busy week here at St. Brigid’s between sport and music events not to mention all the teaching and learning that has been taking place – we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Birthday Greetings Happy birthday to  Leanna Febin (10yrs), Teodor Dimitrijevic (2yrs), Caireann Mitchell (11yrs), Maiia Lisnichulk (7yrs), Bo Van Sleeuwen (12yrs), Conor McGerr (6yrs), Amelia Ryan (6yrs), Leah Molamohy (7yrs), Thomas Darby (11yrs), Cian Lawlor (13), Chris Borkowski (9yrs) and Lily Byrne (10yrs) who are all celebrating birthdays this week and over the coming Bank Holiday Weekend. . Breithlá sona daoibh go léir. Enjoy your special day.

Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 93.6%. Absence 6.4%.

Music Generation Concerts The boys and girls from 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class put on their Music Generation Concerts for their parents on Tuesday. The children were amazing and sent us all away feeling happy, happy, happy. A big thank you to Joan from Music Generation and to the class teachers and SNAS for all the hard work they put in over the course of the year to prepare the children for the concerts.

Greystones Gaelic Football Blitz – Well done to the girls from 6th class and the boys from 5th and 6th who represented St. Brigid’s in the first ever Greystones School’s GAA Football Blitz. The boys played three matches and worked hard for every match. They showed some great skills and the 6th class boys showed great leadership. We had eighteen girls from 6th class playing which is a super number. The girls also played three matches. They only lost one match and the skills and teamwork they put on display were absolutely amazing. The girls came away winners on the day and arrived back to school dripping with medals and the Sciath na gCloch Liath Shield which will take pride of place in our trophy cabinet.  Congratulations ladies. We are so proud of you all. Thank you so much to Ms. Teehan and Mums Eimear Doran and Rebecca Byrne for helping out on the day.

End of Year Theatre Group PerformancesCongratulations to the boys and girls from the After School Theatre Group on their wonderful performances of the splendid musical “Sherlock and Cinders” over the last two nights. The children were absolutely amazing, and I am so proud of each and every one of them.

Funding Raising   – A great night was had by all at the St. Brigid Auction and Table Quiz last Friday night in Greystones Rugby Club.  Thank you to everyone who supported this event and our 2024 School Raffle. The final figure is not yet in, but so far, we have raised over €12.00.00 which is absolutely incredible. I will have the exact figure for you next week. A big thank you all the parents who helped on the night and especially to Emer Elliot, Eimear Doran, Jeanette Doherty, Ross O’ Donovan, Sheena McCabe, Keith McCabe, Daniel English and Eamonn Foley without whose help this just wouldn’t have been possible.

Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine  # 31 – This week’s phrase is: “An bhfuil tú cinnte? – Tá/Níl – Are you sure ? Yes/No”
