Newsletter 28 – 26th April 2024

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Happy Friday.  Nice to see the sun shining this morning. Hopefully we will see more of it in the weeks ahead.

Fundraiser for Pieta House – Thank you to everyone who supported our “Inside Out Fundraiser Day for Pieta House on Wednesday. The day was a great success and we managed to raise a whopping €1952.00 which is absolutely incredible. Wearing their tops inside out was a novelty for the children and helped them to understand that the way we look on the outside is not always how we may be feeling on the inside, an important message for them I think you will agree.

Date for the Diaries The Parents Association are organizing an End of Year Raffle, Table Quiz and Auction for the school on Friday 24th May in the Rugby Club. This is a great night and a great opportunity for parents and staff to get together socially. We would be delighted to see as many of you as possible in attendance on the night.

Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine  # 27 – This week’s phrase is: “An bhfaca tú é sin ?” – Did you see that?

Birthday Greetings – There are 10 pupils celebrating birthdays at the school this week – They are Katie Brady (12yrs), Kevin McCann (11yrs), Zac Cheetham (7yrs), Sofia Garry (9yrs), Indie Gaffey (6yrs), Brandon Carey (10yrs), Niall McGerr (10yrs), Lucy O’ shea (8yrs), Síofra Lyons (12yrs) and Méabh McGuinness is (10yrs)  Lá breithe sona daoibh go léir. Happy birthday to you all.

Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 93.3%. Absence 6.7%

Diocesan Visit Sr. Maureen, one of the Primary Diocesan Advisors, visited our school yesterday. She spent time talking with the children in 3rd and 4th about the themes in Grow in Love. She invited them to chat about their faith and to pray and sing songs as outlined in the Grow in Love Religious Education Programme. At the end of the day, she came to tell me how good all the children were. She was really impressed with the deep and meaningful questions the children asked including one particularly memorable one which was “when Jesus forgave Judas, did he forgive him straight away or did it take a while?”. She will issue a report on her school visit in the coming week.

Greystones District Person of the Year – Congratulations to Sharon Felton, Mum and SNA at our school, who was awarded Greystones District Person of the Year at a special awards ceremony held at Greystones Golf Club last night. We are delighted for her – so well deserved.
