Dear Parents/ Guardians,

I hope you are all keeping well. Another busy and happy week at St. Brigid’s TG. Time is going by so quickly. I can’t believe June is just around the corner.

Birthday Greetings This week is a special week for Ben Molamphy (10yrs), Will Nolan (8yrs), Arlo Wood (5yrs) Daniela Noble (8yrs), Ciaran Li (13yrs) and Dia Donovan (6yrs) who are all celebrating birthdays. Breithlá sona daoibh go léir. Enjoy your special day.

Confirmation – Congratulations to the pupils in 6th class who made their Confirmation last Saturday in St. Anthony’s Church Kilcoole. It was a very special day for the children, their families and the school community.   A big thank you to Fr. Des, Mr. Dodd, Ms Walle, Ms. Brennan, SNA Helen Murphy, Lisa, Elaine and all the parent volunteers for making this a day a day to remember for our boys and girls.

Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 94.4%. Absence 5.6%. This is an improvement on last week. Let’s keep this up.

Music Generation Concerts

  • The children from 4th Class put on their Music Generation Concert for their parents on Wednesday. They were amazing and brought us a lot of joy on a dull,  grey day. To borrow a phrase from one of Abba’s songs “Boys and Girls, thank you for the music, the songs you’re singing. Thanks for all the joy you’re bringing.” A big thank you to Joan from Music Generation and to teachers and SNAS for all the hard work they have been putting in since January to prepare the children for the concerts.
  • Our 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes will put on their concerts next Tuesday 28th May. The First-Class Concert starts at 9.15am followed by the 2nd Class Concert at 10,15am. The 3rdclass will perform in the afternoon at 2.00pm.

Cumann na mBun Scoil Sports We hope to participate in a number of events at the 2024 Cumann na mBun Scoil Wicklow Sports on Wednesday 12th June. In preparation for this event children from 2nd to 6th will take part in the Wicklow Run Offs (trials) today in Greystones United. We wish them all the best of luck. Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to walk with the classes. Your help is much appreciated.

Funding raised from Raffle Tickets – Thank you to each and every one of you who supported our 2024 School Raffle. We have raised a whopping €4.795.00 which is incredible. Wishing you all the best for the raffle which is taking place tonight.

Table Quiz and Auction Our Table Quiz and Auction will be taking place in Greystones Rugby Club tonight at 7.30pm. We are all looking forward to what should be a great night.

Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine  # 30 – This week’s phrase is: “Lean Ort!” – On you go.

After School Drama- Our after-school theatre group will put on “Sherlock and Cinders” next Wednesday 29th May and Thursday 30th May at 7.30pm. If last year’s show is anything to go by, we are all in for a real treat.

50th Celebration – The main building of our school is 50 years old this year and we are planning to mark this special anniversary on Friday the 21st of June. Preparations have already begun for the day. An aerial photo of the pupils standing in the form of St. Brigid’s Cross and the number fifty will be taken in the school yard next Tuesday.

The day itself will start with an outdoor prayer service (weather permitting) followed by a short concert and tea and refreshments after in the hall for the adults. Roll books from the past will be on view for people to have a look at and there will be a slide show running in the background. There will be a special surprise later in the day for all the boys and girls. The day also affords us the opportunity to officially unveil our wonderful St. Brigid Mural which the children spent all last year creating. More information on this to follow.

Planned School Closures for Term 3

Until next week
