21st June 2024

Dear Parents/Guardians

I hope you are all keeping well on this summer solstice day.

Can you believe we have only another week to go to the summer holidays? June is always such a busy month, and the weeks just seem to fly by.

Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 89%. (The lowest this year) /Absence 11%. (The highest this year).

PA Thank You Night – We are so lucky to have such an amazing body of parents in our community. As a token of our appreciation for the trojan work you do throughout the year we hosted a get together and Thank You Night in the school hall for parents last Monday night. It was a lovely night and both Tom Sherlock (Chairperson of the BoM) and I were delighted to have the opportunity to thank you in person for all you do for our school. We honestly couldn’t do it without you.  A special thank you to Sheena and Sarah for organising the catering on the night.

5th Class History Walk – Our three fifth classes headed off on a history walking tour of Greystones on Wednesday. The children were amazed at just how much history is attached to Greystones. The walk finished up with a picnic in Burnaby Park. A big thank you to Mr. Molloy, Ms Horan and Ms. O’Donnell for organising a great day out for the children. Thank you also to the parents who helped out on the day.

Sports Day for 3rd and 4th   The boys and girls in 3rd and 4th class had to wait until yesterday to celebrate their Sports Day but it was worth the wait. They participated in a number of events and really enjoyed the day. A big thank you to Ms. Murray for organising the day.

King Lear – Last night Mr. Dodd’s 6th class put on “King Lear” in the school hall to a packed audience.  I studied King Lear for the Leaving Cert and to see children getting to grips with the works of William Shakespeare at such a young age is amazing.  The standard of acting was off the charts and I have no doubt but that we will see some of these names up in lights in the years to come Maith sibh a pháistí . I am so proud of each and everyone of you. A big thank you to Mr. Dodd for giving his class such a unique experience and one they will remember for years to come.

Birthday Greetings There are 11 children celebrating birthdays at the school this week. They are Emer O’ Shea  (6yrs), Alex Guerreiro Vicente (6yrs), Braxon Higgins  (7yrs) , Matt Williams (11yrs), Laura Williams (11yrs), Amelia Kolodzinska (12yrs), Sophie Lynch (9yrs), Daisy O’ Dwyer (12yrs), Bryan Nolan (13yrs), Conor Tierney (11yrs) and Ashiderdene Chuulunbaatar (13yrs)  We wish them all a very happy birthday and best wishes for the year ahead.
