Newsletter 26 – 12th April 2024
Dear Parents/ Guardians,
Welcome back! It’s lovely to see our boys and girls looking so refreshed and well after the Easter break. We have a busy term ahead with school tours, standardised testing, Junior and Senior Sports Days, sacramental celebrations and various plays and concerts. But I have no doubt that the children will take it all in their stride as they zip through the third and final term of this school year!
After School Basketball League – It is that time of year again. The annual After School Summer Basketball League for senior classes commenced on Monday 8th April. We wish all ten teams participating in the 2023 Basketball League the very best of luck and may the best team win.
2nd Class Swimming – Next Thursday our two second classes will begin swimming lessons at Shoreline. They are very excited about this and are looking forward to having lots of fun at the pool.
Date for the Diaries The Parents Association are organizing an End of Year Raffle, Table Quiz and Auction for the school on Friday 24th May in the Rugby Club. This is a great night and a great opportunity for parents to get together socially. We would be delighted to see as many of you as possible in attendance on the night.
Fundraiser for Pieta House -We have been working towards achieving our first Amber Flag (an initiative that celebrates communities creating healthy, supportive and inclusive environments by promoting wellbeing) at St. Brigid’s National School this year. Our final step towards achieving this flag is to host a fundraiser for Pieta House.
The Amber Flag Committee have organised an “Inside Out Day” on Wednesday 24th April. The pupils will wear their school tracksuit on the day and wear their tracksuit jumper inside out to represent the idea that sometimes the way we look on the outside, does not always reflect how we feel on the inside. As part of the fundraiser, each class will also watch the Disney movie “Inside Out” which explores emotions and wellbeing.
We hope that you will join us in supporting the work of Pieta House by making a donation to our ‘Inside Out’ fundraiser. An Aladdin payment link has been sent out from the office for online payments. Alternatively, cash or card payments can be accepted at the office. Thank you in advance for your support with this.
Céad Mile Fáilte We were delighted to welcome a new boy, Waris MacHarold, to our school on Monday. The children in Room 8 are happy to have another boy in the class as they now have the same number of boys and girls – These things matter when you are in second class!
Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine # 25 – This week’s phrase is: “Tóg go bog é” – Take it easy
Birthday Greetings – Happy birthday to Lia Kilcoyne in 1st class who was 8yrs old on Monday and to Charlie Doyle who is 12yrs old today.
Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 93.1%. Absence 6.9%
