Inspiring Visitors from Chernobyl

Thanks to Mr Meaney who organised a visit with his FRIENDS FROM CHERNOBYL. Mr Meaney invited them in to talk to 5th and 6th class on Thursday 21st December. Jessica, Sarah, Ciara and Amy from Ms Murray’s 6th class wrote about the visit. Here’s what they had to say.

Jessica: When Sasha came in from Chernobyl it was a great experience. We really learned a lot from the talk. After hearing their life story it really made me appreciate everything I have. Sasha Blonde is an inspiration because of his amazing English. I really hope that they come back to talk to us once again. It was really great to hear about their life in Chernobyl and I wish them a very Merry Christmas.

Amy: We really enjoyed having Sasha speak to us. We loved hearing his story about what life is like in Chernobyl. It really makes you think how lucky we all are. We are so lucky to be able to do everyday things like write, walk and play with our friends. I really hope Sasha will come back into us and give another inspiring talk. What Mr Meaney and his family are doing for them is incredible because they changed their lives and we hope they have an amazing Christmas.

Ciara: On the 21st December we met people form Chernobyl and they told us about their lives in Chernobyl and that they love spending time in Ireland. They love the places, people and food. Sasha Blonde learned English and he was speaking to us and answering all our questions.

Sarah: The men who came from Chernobyl were just amazing. Sasha Blonde has just one of the most amazing personalities in the world. He was just a happy, go lucky type of guy. We were so honoured, happy and priviliged to have the men to come in to talk to us. It just teaches us to be so happy and grateful for what we have in life. We are happy, healthy and we have the chance to have an amazing education. I just loved having them in.
