Newsletter 29 – 10th May 2024

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

A lovely short week this week and it is nice to see the temperature rising and the sun making an appearance at last.  Everything just looks so much better in the sun.

May Assemblies  It was lovely  to hear all that Room 20 and Room 7 have been learning over the last month at our May Assemblies on Wednesday. Room 20 wowed us with their Irish Rap and beautiful origami Art work and Room 7 were so happy to be performing  their favourite songs  “When I Grow Up” , and “An Chircín Rua” . Leading Assemblies is a great experience for the children, helping to build confidence and providing them with an opportunity to have their voice heard.

Can you help? In advance of the installation of Solar Panels at our school, we need a written report from a structural engineer on the state of the roof. If you are a structural engineer or can recommend one, we would love to hear from you.

Raffle Tickets Tickets for our annual raffle are available to purchase via the link or QR Code we sent to you last week. There are some fantastic prizes to be won As the saying goes, if you are not in, you cannot win.

Gaeilge – Frásaí na Seachtaine  # 29 – This week’s phrase is: “An bhfuil fhiios agat? – Tá/Níl – Do you know? Yes/No.

First Communion – We wish all the boys and girls in Rooms 6 and 8 the very best for their First Holy Communion in St. Anthony’s Church on Sunday 12th May. This is a very special occasion, and one you will remember for many years to come. We hope you enjoy every minute of the day.

Communion Photo Day – Ian Young (Our School Photographer) will visit the school over two days to take individual, sibling and class photos of all our boys and girls in 2nd class. Room 6 will have their photos taken on Monday 13th May and Room 8 will have theirs taken on Tuesday 14th May.  Parents/Guardians of these classes will be notified with all further details.

Birthday Greetings – Celebrating birthdays this week are Marcus Keddy (12yrs), Oisín Doherty (10yrs), Amy Albert (5yrs), Samuel Cebula (7yrs), Jack Densborn (7yrs) and Finn O’ Brien (8yrs) and Joey Healy (5yrs) Wishing you all the best for your birthdays. We hope you have a great day.

Standardised Testing – Standardised testing will be taking place over the course of the next couple of weeks at the school. Every year we advise that parents shouldn’t be overly concerned about test results unless the teacher is.  As in other years, if a teacher has concerns, he or she will be in contact with you with advice as to how you can help your child and plan for the future for addressing any difficulties your child may be having.

Let’s continue to make every school day count. School Attendance this week was 92.4%. Absence 7.6%.

Planned School Closures for Term 3

  • Summer Holidays – School closes on Friday 28th June for Summer. Infants and their siblings will finish at 12.10pm and the remainder of the school will finish at 12.30pm

That’s it for this week. I hope you all have a nice weekend.
